Everything that ever happened in our life becomes part of our story. But no part of our story should have any control of our emotions and with that control over our life. We should always be in control of our life and make it what we want it to be. Yet, sometimes a traumatic event can stop us in our tracks and we become a prisoner of that trauma for many years and sometimes even for the rest of our lives. Life story transformation means changing how we feel about a part of our story so that we can rise above it and be the person we are meant to become. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

The traumatic experience itself is not what keeps us stuck. It is the protective barriers we create within ourselves that ultimately keep us hostage. We retain memories on our mental, emotional and physical level. You may notice that in certain situations you just tense up, right? This is a defense mechanism of your body, which is directly related to a traumatic memory that has been stored on the physical level and your body is now responding to a trigger of that memory. This trigger can be anything from a word, to a gesture, a song, scent or personality. Sometimes, we don’t even know why we react in a certain way.

To heal our trauma we have to slowly break down our protective shields. Don’t get me wrong, those shields did serve a purpose at some point, but since we did not release them, they now hinder us from moving past our traumatic past. Trauma healing means showing the body, mind and spirit that it is safe to let these protective shields go.
